Waseem Malleye

Waseem Malleye is an investment and asset management professional with more than a decade and a half of experience in real estate asset investment and asset management. Waseem attended the University of Toronto, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in economics in 2003. He began his career that same year at RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, the largest REIT in Canada, working his way up from analyst to director of asset management at the organization. As director, he managed a portfolio of 77 properties with an aggregate area of 12 million square feet throughout Canada and the United States and with a $3.2 billion portfolio value. He also oversaw acquisitions, leasing, operations, construction, and development, and accomplished an annual average increase of 3.2% in Net Operating Income (NOI) over four years and a portfolio average Net Operating Income increase of 2.1% over the same period. In 2012, Waseem transitioned to a role with Triovest Realty Advisors, acting as the company’s director of real estate asset management. At Triovest, he was responsible for managing the entire real estate portfolio of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) — including malls, power centers, and grocery-anchored centers. Charged with finding ways to improve the portfolio’s performance, Waseem guided the portfolio’s successful divestment for USD $2.1 billion. Following this success, Waseem served as director of asset management for Integrated Asset Management Group, where he developed long-term strategies, oversaw asset management reporting, and directed fund-level and project budgeting. In 2016, Waseem Malleye began his work at SEDCO Capital, the investment arm of the Saudi Economic and Development Holding Co. Currently serving as Vice President of International Real Estate USA at the firm, Waseem evaluates and executes real estate and real-estate-related investments across the United States and is responsible for all asset management and reporting tasks. He also underwrites both public and private investment opportunities across all asset classes and works to develop SEDCO’s U.S. investment strategy. In his decade and a half of investment and asset management experience, Waseem Malleye has managed and advised on investments across real estate asset classes, markets and risk/reward profiles with an aggregate value in excess of USD 5 billion.
